Thru-Hike the Appalachian Trail in Four Minutes

Green Tunnel from Kevin Gallagher on Vimeo.
It's estimated that each year 2-3 million people hike on the Appalachian Trail. For some it might be for a week, a day, a mile, or maybe less. For a small fraction of that number the goal is to thru-hike all 2180 miles from Springer Mountain GA to Mt Katahdin ME.

Have you ever entertained the idea of hiking the whole trail? Well now you can! Take a virtual hike of the AT in four minutes!!

In 2005 Kevin Gallagher thru hiked the AT and documented his journey in a unique way. Once a day, every day, he took 1 picture per step for 24 steps. All told Kevin took over 4000 photo's. He strung them together to create this incredible video. (be patient, the first 10 seconds are blank)

So what did you think after watching the Green Tunnel?  Ready to take a hike, or get more popcorn?
